Fairborn Preschool and Daycare is a non-profit preschool, kindergarten, and daycare in Fairborn, Ohio. We have been in existence since 1970 when our church learned that local public school teachers needed a nurturing and safe place for their children while they taught. We began with 4 children and our current enrollment is 102. For the past 38 years we have continued to provide care for many of the youngest children in Fairborn and our neighboring communities including children whose parents work at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and parents who attend Sinclair, Clark State, or Wright State University
Our school provides care from 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. We are open year round and we have nine classes ranging in age from 6 weeks to six years old. We also offer summer care for school age children (6 years old to 10 years old). Our kindergarten class and preschool classes are held each morning but we offer extended care before and after these classes for parents at work or school. We provide a hot lunch which follows the nutritional guidelines set by the state of Ohio as well as morning and afternoon snacks. We are closed for federal holidays and we follow the Fairborn City Schools schedule for preschool and kindergarten. In August each family receives a calendar showing our schedule for the year.
The preschool offers a more structured environment and our goal is to be a home away from home where each child feels secure enough to explore new things and make new friends. Our teachers provide age appropriate activities each day to stimulate creativity and imagination always keeping in mind that they are preparing “their children” for the next level of maturity and academic growth.
We have our own music teacher who leads movement and song and fosters an enjoyment of music in our children. Our children love going to the music room for their special time led by the music teacher as she plays the piano or introduces a new song from a record or CD. Each class goes to music twice a week. Our music teacher plans a Christmas program each year; our children participate for families and friends to enjoy.
We have an Open House one evening in September and all families and friends are invited to meet the teachers and see the classrooms. We also invite our families to join us on the last day of school for our All School Picnic.
One major reason the community accords our school a very good reputation is our low child to teacher ratios. For example our toddler classes (children 18 months to 3 years old) have 8 children with 2 staff. The state ratio for this age mandates 7 children to one staff member. We provide these lower ratios at all age levels. Since we offer this less stressful and safer environment for our children we have a lower staff turnover which provides a more stable environment for our children.
There are many reasons we are proud of our school. Our program has been a vital part of our community for many years and we will continue to offer the same quality program with reasonable rates for these youngest of children in our community.
